Dr. Timothy Hunt, PhD, MSW, is Associate Research Scientist at Columbia University School of Social Work, Associate Director with the Social Intervention Group, the Global Health Research Center of Central Asia, and Columbia’s Center for Healing of Opioid and Other Substance Use Disorders-Enhancing Intervention, Development and Implementation. Dr. Hunt has provided trauma-informed family therapy, substance abuse treatment, and chronic disease prevention and care for over 34 years. His global and domestic research includes designing, testing, and disseminating prevention and health promoting interventions aimed at promoting wellness and reducing harm from addictions, intimate partner violence, HIV, and utilization of capacity building models in 14 countries. Dr. Hunt holds a Master of Social Work degree from New York University, is a post-masters graduate of the Ackerman Institute for the Family, and PhD from CSSW focused on Implementation strategies supporting the adoption of evidence-based Interventions. 

Dr Hunt is MPI for TechMPower: Advancing HIV/SUD Care and Service Delivery for People Involved in the Criminal Legal System. This NIDA-funded Hybrid Type II Stepped Wedge trial in 6 NY and NJ county jails examines a bundle of implementation strategies to increase delivery of evidence-based practices for HIV and SUD prevention and treatment. He is co-investigator for the HEALing Communities Study, examining the effect of the Communities That HEAL intervention EBP adoption to reduce overdose, with 67 counties in research sites from Ohio, Massachusetts, and Kentucky. He was PI on WORTH Transitions addressing HIV/STI risks for formerly incarcerated women with Yale University and University of Rochester.
