Join the Weinberg Family Cerebral Palsy Center for the October session of the Movement Recovery Seminar Series, a monthly seminar series for the community of scientist and clinicians working towards the common goal of recovery of function.

Speaker: Kimberly Waddell, PhD, MSCI, OTR/L, Assistant Professor,  Penn Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Research Scientist | VA Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion
Topic: From Neurorehabilitation to Health Promotion: Leveraging Behavioral Economics for Long-Term Health

This talk will explore how behavioral economic principles, gamification, social incentives, and remote monitoring technologies can be leveraged to promote physical activity and long-term health among adults living with neurologicaldisease. Drawing on research in adults with stroke and Parkinson’s disease, Dr. Waddell will highlight innovative approaches to translating behavioral science and digital health technologies into interventions that support sustained physical activity beyond traditional rehabilitation.

Dr. Waddell's research focuses on promoting long-term health and improving disease self-management and physical activity among adults with neurologic disease. She uses behavioral science, including behavioral economic principles, to develop and evaluate interventions designed to support sustained health behaviors after neurologic disease. She also leverages administrative and real-world data to better understand post-stroke recovery and disability and to identify patient populations who may benefit from remote monitoring and other approaches to improve long-term health.
