About the event:

Professors Bernard Hoekman and Petros Mavroidis are the co-authors of a new book that examines how the WTO and the international trading system can respond to the actions of major economies using national security & economic security policies (subsidies, investment restrictions, export restraints, etc.) Former Trade Minister Han-koo Yeo and the moderator, Professor Merit E. Janow, will join the discussion. 

The webinar will consider:

  • Is the world deglobalizing?
  • How are governments using policy tools to support economic and national security?
  • What are the cross-border and international consequences and the implications for the global trade regime? 
  • What can be done to reduce the negative spillover effects and increase cooperation?
