Brando Benifei, Chair of the European Parliament's Delegation for Relations with the United States, will discuss the state of democracy in the European Union following the recent elections and the rise of far-right parties. He will explore how these political shifts could impact the new European Commission's agenda, particularly focusing on two key EU initiatives: the Green Deal, aimed at decarbonizing Europe's economy, and the Digital Agenda, which seeks to enhance Europe's digital sovereignty and set global standards, including on Artificial Intelligence.
Brando Benifei is a Member of the European Parliament, currently serving his third term. He chairs the European Parliament's Delegation for Relations with the United States and serves as the Coordinator for the Socialists and Democrats Group in the Committee on International Trade. During the previous mandate, he was the co-Rapporteur for the Artificial Intelligence Act. In recognition of his work, he was awarded the Best MEP of the Mandate by The Parliament Magazine in March 2024.
