Course Description

The Angel Investing program is designed for individuals who wish to become key players in scaling promising startups. Participants will learn angel investing methodologies through a blend of academic and practitioner-based training. Led by Angela Lee, founder of the 37 Angels investing network that has evaluated over 20,000 startups, the program covers topics such as finding and evaluating investment opportunities, risks and rewards, portfolio management, and networking skills. Pre-recorded interviews with industry veterans David Beatty and Joanne Wilson will provide an insider’s perspective, discussing real-world scenarios from the angel investment space. The program offers a unique opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and acquire the skills and knowledge needed to succeed as an angel investor in today’s global market.

Course Prerequisites

This program has no prerequisites and is designed for high net-worth investors, angel investors, entrepreneurs, institutional investors, founders, co-founders, and CXOs.

What You Will Learn

By the end of this program, participants will have the skills and knowledge to make well-grounded investment decisions and develop a diverse portfolio. They will be able to identify and value strong early-stage investment targets using proven methodologies, calculate and pressure-test a startup's investment and market potential, and access and leverage players to advance their investing agenda. The program is divided into six modules that cover the fundamentals of angel investing, including deal sourcing and due diligence, early-stage startup valuation, managing a portfolio, and groundwork for investment. Participants will also learn valuable soft skills such as negotiation, networking, and mentorship. The program offers a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts and develop the skills needed to succeed in the dynamic world of startup investing.

Angela Lee is an award-winning professor and former Chief Innovation Officer at Columbia Business School, where she teaches venture capital and leadership programs. Angela started her career in Product Management and then moved to consulting at McKinsey & Company. She launched four startups and is also the founder of 37 Angels, an investing network that has evaluated over 20,000 startups and invested in 90+ startups.

She also serves as a venture partner at Fresco Capital, an early-stage venture fund that focuses on the future of work, digital health, and sustainability. She was awarded the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence at Columbia Business School in 2020 and won the Singhvi Prize for Scholarship in the Classroom in 2022.

Angela has spoken at the White House and NASA and is an expert in teaching online and making learning scalable. She is a sought-after expert on CNBC, Bloomberg TV, MSNBC, and Fox Business.
